Dr. Oz: Why Your Eyes Tear When You Blow Your Nose

By on March 2, 2010

Doctor Oz was asked by Kim in his audience, why do your eyes tear when you blow your nose? Her left eye sometimes tears so much when she blows her nose that she gets tears running down her face.

Doctor Oz said that there is a duct that goes from your eye down to your nose, and sometimes, if you blow your nose hard, then you can blow stuff up your duct and into your eye.  If you have a deviated septum or other asymmetries in your sinus, then you could get the “tears” coming out of one eye or the other.
