Now that Dr. Oz has told you how important it is to look at your poop and understand its shape and color, he has some solutions to help you become a perfect pooper. If you fell into the category of being a Pellet Pooper, you may be eating a lot of “white” foods, like pastas, breads and rice, which can contribute to constipation. There are some foods you can start eating to boost your bowels:

  • Bananas
  • Pumpkin Seeds
  • Oat Bran
  • Raspberries

Pumpkin seeds and bananas both contain Magnesium, which is important because it helps to loosen the intestinal walls and push things through.

Dr Oz: Spicy Foods Cause Diarrhea

Often times, people who have liquid poop eat foods that are overly spicy. Spicy foods cause a problem because they have a lot of Capsasin in them, which goes through your body too quickly. Dr. Oz says you can still enjoy spicy foods, but you should also include some other foods to encourage a more perfect poop.

  • White Rice
  • Applesauce
  • Blueberries
  • Lemon Juice

Dr. Oz adds that to improve your urine and get it looking clearer, you need to drink more water until it you can see through it.

Comments to Dr Oz: Bananas Prevent Constipation & Spicy Foods Cause Diarrhea

  1. Diana Christianson says:

You mentioned bananas as a food to prevent constipation. Everywhere that I read states that bananas are one of the foods to eat when you have diarrhea. The BRAT diet is always mentioned as well as other foods. My mother who has some trouble with constipation was told by her doctor to cut back on the banana that she ate every day. I have had a lower colon cancer and have many problems with diarrhea due to several causes. I was told that a banana a day (as well as other things) helps to stabilize my bowels.
