Dr Oz: Anti-Cancer Salad

Dr Oz and his guest, Dr Joel Fuhrman, talked on the show about a new approach to the food pyramid, and how dietary changes could cure migraines. Next, he wanted to share some of his healthy eating tips with Dr Oz’s audience.

Dr Fuhrman said that one key to the system is getting used to the idea of salad as a main dish. That’s because fresh vegetables are high in nutrients, even though they often have low caloric content.

“We’re talking here about the most powerful, anti-cancer, healing therapy foods,” he said.

Dr Oz and Dr Joel Fuhrman discussed the health benefits of G-BOMBS and the anti-cancer properties of healthy foods like salad.

He used the acronym G-BOMBS to help people remember the key foods for a healthier lifestyle.

  • Onions
  • Mushrooms
  • Berries
  • Seeds

“If Americans eat those foods on a regular basis, we’d have a completely different healthy population without these diseases,” he said.

To start Dr Fuhrman’s plan, you can make a great salad for lunch with a flavorful homemade dressing. He also suggested a vegetable soup you can cook on the weekend, so you can enjoy it throughout the week.

Dr Oz: Do I Have Time To Eat Healthy?

Dr Oz asked one of Dr Fuhrman’s patients, Adrienne, whether people would be right in saying this plan takes too much time. She said that your health should be a huge priority, and explained that she fits the plan into her busy schedule, doing a lot of cooking on Sundays and making a midweek grocery run after work.

“We make time for the things we prioritize,” she said.

Sarah admitted earlier that she had to learn to love Kale. She said that one of her favorite meals on the plan is a Kale, Avocado and Apple Salad. “It’s very easy to make, and it’s delicious.”

Dr Oz: Junk Food Vs Pasta Vs Salad

Dr Oz used three cylinders to demonstrate how we fill up our stomachs in a typical 400-calorie meal. Junk food doesn’t have much volume but is high in calories, leaving you craving more bad stuff. Something like pasta is slightly more filling, but also not high in nutrients. But foods such as the Cabbage Salad Recipe give you high volume and nutrients.

Dr Fuhrman agreed that Adrienne is on the right track prepping her meals on the weekend. He said that he believes salad dressings are a key to making veggies taste great. I like a good salad, but I have always thought creating your own dressings was a lot of work.

He also said you can get creative with desserts like a Chocolate Bean Brownie or his ice cream recipe, which sounded like it was a hit with the ladies on the stage. Dr Oz said that some of Dr Fuhrman’s recipes are available on Pinterest.

  1. I have a question; I used to eat a G-BOMB salad every day for lunch. Needless to say that all of that ruffage has taken a toll and I had to stop eating salad for a while. What else can I eat that will give me the same results?
