Dr Oz: Lose 20 Pounds In Four Weeks, Boost Your Metabolism
Dr. Oz and nutritionist Haylie Pomroy discussed Haylie’s Metabolism Checklist to help you determine whether your metabolism needs a boost. She told Dr. Oz there are important tests you need to request from your doctor as well as certain foods you need to avoid in order to take control of your metabolism and rev up your weight loss!
Dr Oz: Haylie Pomroy the “Metabolism Whisperer”
Nutritionist Haylie Pomroy calls herself the “Metabolism Whisperer” and she promises you can lose 20 pounds in four weeks if you follow her plan to get your metabolism back on track! Her goal when creating this program was to help “real” people lose weight. They are people with parties to go to, events to attend and children to feed and she did not want anyone to ever feel deprived or guilty because of the foods they were eating. Haylie looks at food as a form of medicine and a vehicle for weight loss, rather than something to fear or avoid.
Dr Oz: Carbohydrates Calm the Adrenals
Haylie Pomroy explained the adrenal glands produce hormones that help regulate fat storage in the body. She said the first step to calm your adrenals and get them out of that reactive or crisis state is to spend two days supporting the balance of cortisol in your body. This will improve your body’s ability to burn calories for fuel rather than store them as fat. The foods that will help begin this process are healthy carbohydrates. This is because it is easy for the body to pull nutrients from these types of foods, which means the body does not have to be under so much stress.
- Brown rice
- Fruits that contain natural sugars, like mangos and pineapples
Dr Oz: Kale Releases Body Fat
Phase two of Haylie Pomroy’s plan to rev up your metabolism involves unlocking your fat stores and building muscle. She said you can accomplish this by eating foods like chicken, fish, turkey and even turkey bacon. These foods help to support your liver, which is an important organ where your metabolism is concerned because it works to shuttle fat into the bloodstream. Another important food group that will help you unlock your fat stores and build muscle is the one that includes dark green vegetables like broccoli, cabbage and kale. Haylie explained that these foods are naturally anti-inflammatory so they will reduce bloating while helping your body get rid of that fat that has been stored for years and years.
Dr Oz: Coconut Oil Balances Hormones
Haylie Pomroy told Dr. Oz that unleashing the burn does not refer to exercise, as many of us might think, but rather eating healthy fats to increase your body’s natural ability to burn calories. Consuming those healthy fats will actually stimulate your body to break down fats so you will be better able to burn calories, while helping you achieve a healthy hormone balance.
