Dr Oz: Resistant Starch Powder Smoothie Recipe
Dr Oz shared a delicious Greek Yogurt and Berry Slurry made with resistant starch powder to help you stay full longer, all part of the Portion Distortion Slimdown Plan!
This will curb your hunger and is super quick to make. Use a resistant starch found in fruits, like beans and corn. You can get in powder form too. This will give you the fiber and the bulk so you feel full. It only takes 5 minutes to make, plus, your kids’ll love it.
Ingredients
6 oz plain Greek yogurt (protein in the yogurt will keep you full)
1 tsp agave nectar (helps to sweeten without sugar)
1 Tbsp resistant starch powder
10 oz of frozen mixed berries
Directions
Thaw berries in microwave
Add agave nectar
Blend the nectar with the berries
Add berries to yogurt
Mix remaining ingredients
Enjoy!
Kristen’s Hunger Scale
Use a hunger scale. Eat when you’re at a 4,5 or 6 or the scale. Do not eat at a 10, when you’re full. This simply means you’re overstuffing. When you’re eating at a 1 and really hungry, you tend to overeat.

FYI – resistant starch can be found mostly in grains, not fruits. The 60% resistant starch is Hi-maize resistant corn starch, which has about 80 published clinical trials showing health benefits. For instance, two studies found that people were less hungry not only 2-3 hours later, but also 10-24 hours later. That is because it is fermented in the large intestine as a beneficial fiber and shifts metabolism for many hours. There’s a lot of research showing beneficial effects of this resistant corn starch. You can find it at KingArthurFlour.com as Hi-maize Natural Fiber.
I think agave nectar is fructose, and not a healthy sugar, goes straint in to your liver.Am I correct?
Rhonda many thanks the informacion.
Would anyone know if you are you able to buy resistant starch in powder form at a local store or is it only available online?
I think it’s at some of the Hy-Vee stores, but otherwise, it’s only available online.
Thank you Rhonda!
