Cooking with Art Smith, Who Was Oprah’s Chef – Whole Wheat Pizza

By on April 13, 2010

Doctor Oz was joined by Chef Art Smith, who used to be Oprah Winfrey’s chef in addition to being the author of many books including Back to the Table: The Reunion of Food and Family, to teach us how to make a positively delicious and healthy Whole Wheat Margherita Pizza Recipe.

Art Smith got diabetes and was not quite 50 years old yet, so he knew that he had to change his diet.  He lives by the theory that you should have a breakfast like a king, eat like a princess for lunch and eat like a pauper for dinner… I’ve never heard it phrased better!  Some examples that Art Smith and Dr. Oz gave are to have steel cut oatmeal with fresh berries and a fritatta (eggs, mushrooms, spinach, etc.) for breakfast, Whole Wheat Margherita Pizza Recipe for lunch instead of fried chicken and a salad with salmon for dinner instead of chinese takeout food which is high in sodium and fat.  Art Smith said he has been sleeping better ever since losing weight and starting this diet!  Click here to see Art Smith’s Whole Wheat Margherita Pizza Recipe, which is only 200 calories per slice of pizza!
