Dr Oz did a segment called Conquering Your Diet Pitfalls. Doctor Oz said that 400,000 people so far have signed up for the Dr Oz Move It & Lose It Plan and are working towards their weight loss goals, but it is hard to stay on track with so many pitfalls all around. So, Dr Oz setup a poll on his website to figure out what is your biggest diet pitfall? The answers included: Friends With Bad Habits, Eating Out At Restaurants, Busy Schedule, or Loss of Motivation. Here are the 3 biggest Diet Pitfalls from Dr Oz’s poll and how to avoid them!
Dr Oz: Overeating At Restaurants: Diet Pitfall #3
Dr Oz asked a guest from his show how often she eats out. She said she is a Realtor and a single woman, so she eats out
around 3-5 times per week. She starts out with good intentions but inevitably ends up ordering the unhealthy options like penne with vodka sauce. Here are Dr Oz’s tips for eating out:
1. Go online and look at the menu ahead of time. Studies have shown that if you pick your food out in advance, you reduce the number of calories that you will eat.
2. Make an appetizer into a dinner along with two sides of veggies. By eating this way, you reduce the amount that you eat by at least 1/3 and your average dinner will have 371 calories rather than 947 calories!
3. Never take home a doggy bag. Why? Because Dr Oz said you will be tempted to eat the other half when you get home anyway.
Dr Oz: Busy Schedule: Diet Pitfall #2
Dr Oz has a two step plan to conquer the problem of having a busy schedule that ruins your diet:
1. Marinate your fish or meat in the morning. Why? Because if you have your food set up in the morning, you know is is there and ready and you are just 10 minutes away from making a meal. You can use bottled marinade or salad dressing, along with lemon slices.
2. Create a Morning Workout Box or an Exercise Box. Write down different exercises that take 15 minutes and put them in a shoe box. Every morning, pick an exercise and do it first thing. This way you set your metabolism in the right direction and know that you have done some of the exercise you need for the day. One example of an exercise would be to do jumping jacks followed by an exercise where you reach your arms down to your toes (keeping your legs straight!) and then reach your arms up towards the sky.
Dr Oz: Lose Motivation: Diet Pitfall #1
Dr Oz’s tips for losing motivation include:
1. Setup a date for a party for yourself to celebrate your weight loss in 11 weeks. Plan a debut party and send out invitations. People who make a commitment publicly lose 20% more weight than those who do not.
2. Buy a dress in your goal size for your party in 11 weeks to continue inspiring you to lose weight!
