Dr. Oz: Emergency First Aid Tips

By on January 15, 2010

Dr Oz gave same fabulous tips in case you are ever in a car accident or need to do some emergency first aid on someone who is bleeding.

Dr. Oz’s 3 Do’s and Dont’s in an emergency:

After calling 911, do the following:

1. Apply direct pressure to the wound, and do not remove the pressure to check if the bleeding has stopped (no peaking!)

2. Find the pressure point, because if you push there the bleeding will stop completely.  Also, elevate the wound (if it is on an arm for example), because if you raise it up, the person’s heart won’t be able to pump as much blood up to the wound.

3. Use a clean dressing (like clean clothing for example), but not bare hands which are dirty… particularly if any of the person’s insides are coming out.
