Dr Oz: IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Do you have an ache in your belly or feel bloated? Irritated Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a condition that affects 55 million people, with the majority being women. You may have IBS and don’t even realize it. Dr Oz brought up an audience member who stated that her bowels are “out of whack” when she is stressed. According to Dr Oz, the key trigger to IBS is stress. In this segment, Dr Oz gave the effects of IBS with a demonstration.

Dr Oz asked the audience member when was the last time she had stress and she stated it was just last week.
Dr Oz: Irritable Bowel Syndrome Stresses
The stresses were labeled on blocks. Dr Oz had the audience member pick her two biggest stresses. She chose “work” and “house.” Dr Oz then placed the stresses on top of two models of two intestines with tubes running down. Dr Oz poured the contents of the “work” stress down the first tube. Blue liquid ran down the tube, indicating diarrhea. Dr Oz then poured the contents of the next stress block, “house,” down the second intestinal tube. Small pellets ran through the tube, indicating pellet stool—another symptom of IBS.
Dr Oz gave an animation for further demonstration. He showed a picture of a large and small intestine. He showed the bowel movement going through the intestine. As it moved, it squeezed through the intestine and caused bloating because it was stuck and couldn’t get out. As you may have already guessed, this symptom is constipation.
