Dr. Oz’s Sex Edition addressed every one’s questions about sex, even those sex questions that we are all too embarrassed to ask! To help out Dr. Oz for his game of “Sex by Numbers”, Dr. Oz brought back one of his favorite assistants of the day, Yolanda and her husband Juan. Lets see how you do!
1. How long should intercourse last? Most men last 3 to 7 minutes, but foreplay should last a minimum of 30 minutes (women, feel free to e-mail this to your husbands!!! and husbands who already do this, kudos to you!!!)
2. What percentage of women have faked an orgasm? The surprising answer is 48%… I would have thought it would be much higher (and Yolanda thought so too!)… but maybe only 48% of those women were willing to admit to faking an orgasm.
3. How many types of female orgasms are there? Three – clitoral orgasm, G-spot orgasm, and a blended orgasm of both the clitoris and G-spot.
Dr. Harry Fisch, author of Size Matters: The Hard Facts About Male Sexuality That Every Woman Should Know, and Dr. Laura Berman, author of Real Sex for Real Women
, joined Dr. Oz. to help answer more sex questions.
What are those noises that sound like I am passing gas while having sex? This is called vaginal flatulence and is caused by air being pushed up into the vagina during intercourse. It is harmless, odorless and just a minor annoyance, since it sounds like your vagina is farting. You really don’t have to worry about this, but some say that if you strengthen your kegel muscle (your pelvic muscle) it may help with this.
Is Anal Sex riskier than Vaginal Sex? Your anal lining is more delicate than even your mouth lining (and certainly more delicate than your vaginal lining), thus it is more susceptible to tears, pain and infections. Therefore, make sure to use LOTS of lubrication… if you think it is too much lubrication, that is about the right amount, said Dr. Fisch.
What can you do about the smell in the vaginal area? Dr. Oz’s audience member who asked this said that her husband likes the smell of her vagina, but she doesn’t think its great. Dr. Oz said that one of the main roles of pubic hair is to trap the smell down there because it is actually a sexual pheromone which attracts the opposite sex. The musty smell of the vagina is a very common concern that women have. If it is a very bad smell, it could be the sign of an infection, otherwise do not worry about it (especially if your partner does not mind the smell). Do not use the perfume sprays on the market, because they can really mess up the pH balance in your genital region. If it really bothers you, and you can’t get access to a shower, try unscented baby wipes.
Is there such a thing as a G Spot, asked Robert? Dr. Oz said there was a big study done on if the G Spot is real or not, and Dr. Oz (as well as Dr. Fisch and Dr. Berman) feel strongly that the G Spot absolutely exists. Just because you cannot find it does not mean it is not there! The G-Spot is an incredible mixture of nerves around the same area where the prostate is in men. You can find the G-Spot in women about 1/3 of the way into the vagina on the side closest to her belly button. For every male body part, there is a corresponding female body part… for the testicle, women have ovaries… for the prostate, women have the G-Spot. In fact, when a woman has a G-Spot orgasm, she can have female ejaculation. PSA, Prostate-Specific Antigen, has even been found in women’s ejaculation.
Can you safely have sex while menstrating, asked Tiffany from Facebook? All three doctors (Dr. Oz, Dr. Harry Fisch and Dr. Laura Berman) agree that it is fine to have sex while a woman is menstruating, but you are doubly at risk for transferring sexual diseases like HIV. As long as you are both loyal to each other and clear from any STD’s, you have these doctor’s permission to have sex during your period. Women in fact have an increased libido during this time of the month and women feel less inhibited for various reasons.
Does penis size matter, asked Doug? Dr. Oz said that the average length of the male penis is 5.4″ and only 15% of men have a penis that is longer than 7″. Dr. Harry Fisch did write Size Matters: The Hard Facts About Male Sexuality That Every Woman Should Know, so he had a strong opinion that some women thing penis length matters, other women claim its about the thickness of the penis, but Dr. Harry Fisch says its more “how you play the tune”… so here is his hint, have sex for long enough, and that is what will make all the difference!
