Dr Oz: Ultherapy Face Lift & Muffin Top Liposuction: Plastic Surgery

Dr Oz did a show today called Plastic Surgery: Cutting Edge Procedures.  He spoke about two cutting edge plastic surgery procedures that can be done in less than 30 minutes, but can make you look 10 years younger.  Doctor Oz spoke about an Ultherapy face lift that uses ultrasound to get rid of sagging necks or turkey necks.  The second plastic surgery procedure is one that I would LOVE to have someday – Muffin Top Liposuction!

Dr Oz: Ultherapy Face Lift – Turkey Neck Plastic Surgery

If you are over 40, then you probably have noticed what people call the Turkey Neck, Neck Sag, Double Chin or the Wattle.  This excess skin and fat in your neck is caused by extra fat, loose skin and weak muscles.  It used to be that you had to have invasive surgery to get rid of your Turkey Neck, but now there is a new lunch time procedure called Ultherapy which focuses ultrasound waves on your neck to tighten the sagging area in just 30 minutes.  It can take as little as a single treatment and there is no recovery time.  So you can literally do an Ultherapy Face Lift during your lunch break.

Dr Haideh Hirmand said that Ultherapy works to slow down aging by regenerating your collagen.  And since it uses ultrasound, there is no down time, no scars and no anesthesia needed.  Dr Oz showed how the laser hits the collagen, which are like rubberbands, and it makes them regenerate themselves so that you skin becomes more “bouncy.”  So you end up with tighter and less wrinkled skin without even cutting the skin.

Dr Hirmand demonstrated how the Ultherapy treatment is done on a 51 year old woman from Dr Oz’s audience.  She said the ideal candidate for Ultherapy is a person who has loose skin with a moderate amount of looseness.  If your skin is too loose, then Ultherapy will not replace surgery, but it can be used after surgery to maintain results.  To do the plastic surgery, Dr Hirmand applied some gel to make sure there would be a good seal between the skin and the machine.  Dr Oz’s guest said that she could not feel a thing, which Dr Hirmand said is what many people say.  In the worst case, people might feel a tingling like pins and needles, though the sensation does vary from person to person.  Hirmand told Dr Oz that the 30 minute treatment starts around $1000 and you can see the full results in 2-3 months.

Dr Oz: Muffin Top Liposuction Procedure

Dr Oz’s second plastic surgery procedure gets rid of muffin tops.  Dr Oz found a volunteer named Sheila who wanted to get rid of her muffin top, because after having kids, even with working out and eating healthy, nothing gets rid of her muffin top.  Dr Stuart Linder did the Muffin Top Liposuction procedure on Sheila.  He said that the Muffin Top is extremely resistant fat that is hard to get rid of even with exercise.  And of course, Muffin Tops are nearly impossible to conceal, especially if you want to wear jeans.  The Muffin Top Liposuction focuses on the hip and lower flank region and is a minimally invasive procedure that just requires IV sedation.  The doctor makes one small incision and in about 25 minutes he sucks out all of the fat.  Sheila’s downtime was 1-2 days, so she was back at work 48 hours later.  Sheila said that she did not feel a thing and is extremely happy the results – I too was totally impressed by how amazing she looked just a week later!  Dr Oz asked Dr Linder how much the Muffin Top Liposuction costs, and he said it costs around $2000 to $3500 and you see the full results in 2 weeks.  Another bonus, which I never knew about, is that after you have liposuction to remove fat, the fat does not come back to that same area ever again.  The downside is that you can still gain weight in other areas, so this is not a replacement for a healthy diet and exercise!
