Doctor Oz television show segment on women’s health taboos included pain during sex and intercourse, especially after your menopause. Dr. Oz was joined by Dr. Lauri Romanzi, hilarious author of Plumbing & Renovations,to help women learn what to do if they are having painful sex.
Painful sex can come from the anatomy of the uterus which can be tipped back or endometriosis. However, if you are post-menopausal, then your estrogen levels are down which makes your vulva and vaginal skin dry… and if you don’t have enough lubricant naturally in your vagina, then your sex can be painful.
Another reason for painful sex is that after childbirth, sometimes your uterus can flip to the back. If you get painful sex after having a baby, this could be the issue, and often by the woman being on top during sex can help with the painful intercourse.
Dr. Oz’s Painful Sex Tips:
1. Talk To Your Doctor
2. Change your sex position, perhaps the woman being on top will hurt less since she will have full control then
3. Use Lubricant to make sure everything is well lubricated
4. Have longer foreplay to create extra lubrication
5. Hormone replacement therapy – systemic hormones like estrogen creams, vaginal suppositories or the Estring can be prescribed by your doctors.
