Have you ever wondered what Dr. Sanjay Gupta does every day in order to stay healthy and live longer? He is telling Dr. Oz all of his secrets and some of them might even surprise you. Starting off in the morning, Dr. Gupta says that most of us get ready by doing the same things every morning, but he does them a little different. He tries to do as much of his routine, which includes putting on a tie and tying his shoes, with his eyes closed. He explains that it is a good way to keep your brain young and sharp by forcing you to use parts of the brain that often do not have to work as hard as others.

Dr Sanjay Gupta: Eat 70% of a Meal

At lunchtime Dr. Gupta says he eats in the hospital cafeteria, like many other doctors but he has a rule that he always follows and that is to eat only 70% of what is on his plate and leave the other 30% behind. Not only is this better for you on the inside, but on the outside too because it will keep you thin. Dr. Gupta says that pushing your plate away before you are full will save you up to 50 pounds of weight a year!

Dr Oz: Physical Activity Improves Memory

Dr. Sanjay Gupta says that whether he is on a phone call or in a meeting, he is always moving. He often walks throughout the building where he works with his colleagues as they go over materials or other information pertaining to his work, or what he calls a Moving Meetings. He says that we often do not get enough activity during our work day, so incorporating it in whenever possible will help keep you young. He says that physical activity improves your memory, even more than playing word games or doing crossword puzzles.

  1. Made the turmeric tea tonight and while it was yummy it seems that there were clumps of the turmeric and cinnamon on the bottom of the mug because it did not dissolve well after stirring into the warmed almond milk. Any tips on how to get it to dissolve better? Plan to make it a nightly routine. Thanks!

  2. The cinnamon and turmeric did not dissolve and there were a lot of lomp

  3. I premixed the spices and used a whisk to mix them in just before the it was removed from the stove. Did not have any lumps. Really enjoyed the flavors.

  4. Suzy Mihalopoulos says:

Thank you for the creamy turmeric tea–all wonderful ingredients!

  5. I warmed the milk on the stove and added the spices in gradually not many clumps at all;-) Yummy but I spilled the cinnamon lol

  6. I made this and added cocoa. Excellent.

  7. I used my battery operated mini-frother (used to make cappuccino) to mix in the spices.

I wonder if you can pre-mix everything together in a large container (?maybe the almond milk container), then shake vigorously before pouring to mix, then heat??

  8. Flo Gichamba says:

How about you mix everything then cover and microwave? I do that and it’s all nice and smooth. Hope that it’s safe.

  9. I’ve drank this tea twice and then took my blood pressure about an hour later. Both times my blood pressure was lowered to a good level
    .

  10. I made it with agave nectar instead of honey. i used a whisk and it seemed to blend well.
It really is calming and had a nice flavor..

  11. I really like this drink. It IS very calming. I will try some of the suggestions to fix the clumping.

  12. Did anyone else get gas from the almond milk?

  13. Most of the grittiness can be eliminated by using cinnamon extract which can be found at most health food stores. But I still can’t get the tumeric to dissolve. Perhaps warming it on the stove as some have suggested will work (I’ve been using the microwave). As for the lumps…here’s the trick: Put your dry ingredients into a glass or small bowl, then add the honey and cinnamon extract. Stir them together until smooth. Now add a small amount of milk and stir until thin. You can then add the rest of the milk and heat.

  14. If you make the tea in a sauce pan of water as in a recipe I used , you can use a small strainer to pour it into a mug and all of the turmeric will catch in the strainer. Turmeric is not water soluble. I boiled 4 cups of water and added 1 teaspoon turmeric , cinnamon to taste and some honey in the mug. You simmer and stir it for a few minutes and then strain into your mug. I put the honey in my mug not the pan. I wish I remembered where I found the recipe but this is what the one I found said. Hope it helps you with the clumps!
