Dr Oz: Cayenne Soothes Throat Pain
Dr. Oz switched gears to something fun that we all want to hear about and that is saving money. He reached out to some pretty prominent institutions, including Harvard Medical School, and asked them to help him come up with $5 fixes to make your life easier. Dr Oz: $5 Dollar Home Remedies
Dr. Oz did something that he has never done before. He challenged some of the most well known institutions to come up fixes for every area of your life for under five dollars! He issued his first challenge to Harvard Medical School, where medical breakthroughs happen all of the time. Dr. Oz invited Dr. Darria Long Gillespie to share some $5 fixes to help you improve your health. Dr. Gillespie said that illness never hits at a convenient time and while you will need a visit to the doctor for some things, there are others that can be treated effectively with easy home remedies.
Dr Oz: Frozen Peppermint Oil Back Pain Remedy
Dr. Gillespie explained that she most often recommends ice and massage to patients with back pain, so this remedy is the best of both and includes peppermint oil, which will soothe the pain as well.
- 1 cup water
- 2 drops peppermint oil
- Freeze in paper cups
- Massage directly on pain
Dr Oz: $5 Sore Throat Remedy
Dr. Oz said that most sore throats are caused by minor viruses so there is usually no need to go running to the doctor’s office. Dr. Darria Long Gillespie shared her home remedy to calm a cough and soothe a sore throat. Honey has been found to help with a cough by coating your throat and working with the body’s natural defenses.
- 1 tablespoon of Honey
- 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Water
- ¼ teaspoon Cayenne – Cayenne has Capsasin which will help ease your throat pain.
Mix everything together and take and take a couple of teaspoons to relieve your cough and sore throat.
Dr Oz: Toothache Remedy Whole Cloves
Dr. Gillespie said this toothache remedy is probably her favorite and it is even one used in emergency rooms when patients come in complaining of tooth pain. She recommended cloves to ease the pain from a toothache. Dr. Oz tried it for himself and he said it literally numbs your mouth, which would definitely stop your tooth pain.

Dr Oz: Home Remedy For Bad Breath
Bad breath is caused by bacteria that builds up on your teeth, on your tongue or on the inside of your mouth, which then gives off that awful sulfur smell. Dr. Gillespie said that fresh parsley is a great way to kill your bad breath. It is often found in products meant to freshen breath, but when you eat fresh parsley you avoid any added ingredients or chemicals found in commercial mouthwashes.
