Doctor Oz spoke with Canadians Rick Smith and Bruce Lourie, authors of Slow Death by Rubber Duck: The Secret Danger of Everyday Things, on his XM / Sirius radio show.  Rick Smith and Bruce Lourie tracked chemicals in their blood and urine while they lived out their normal lives.  And by doing this, they were able to discover that by doing a few things and reading labels to avoid toxins, you can reduce the levels of toxins and pollution in your body.

Rick Smith & Bruce Lourie Advice on Toxins to Avoid:

1. Shower Curtains

Your should avoid shower curtains that are soft plastic like vinyl.  Rick Smith and Bruce Lourie said that Sears is moving away from vinyl shower curtains and are now making their shower curtains out of nylon.

2. Avoid Phthalates

Phthalates are commonly found in heavily scented products like shampoos and soaps, but also it is even used in kids toys.  The best way to avoid phthalates is by trying to purchase unscented products as much as possible.

3. Avoid Bisphenol A

Bisphenol A is usually seen in plastics like baby bottles, water bottles and plastic kitchen containers.  You should avoid Bisphenol A, because it has been linked to prostate cancer and other cancers.

Janine Driver, author of You Say More Than You Think: Use the New Body Language to Get What You Want!, the 7-day Plan, spoke with Dr. Oz on his XM / Sirius radio show about body language.  Here are a couple of pieces of advice from Janine Driver’s body language knowledge:

Janine Driver’s 7 Second Fix

1. No Fig Leaf Positions

The fig leaf position is when you are sitting with your hands folded and covering the crotch area (or the “naughty bits” which Janine picked up from the Holy Grail).  You have three power zones: your neck dimple, your belly button, and your groin.  You want to keep these three power zones open to send a message of confidence and power.  So instead of folding or crossing your hands, which is a begging position, rest your hands on the shoulder of a chair.

2. Put Your Elbow Behind Your Chair

If you are talking to the person sitting next to  you, take your elbow and put it behind your chair so that your neck dimple and belly button face towards the person.

3. Men, Don’t Sit With Legs Wide Open

It is considered arrogant if a man sits with his legs wide open, so avoid doing that or spreading your legs wide when sitting on a bar stool.

Westwood One is going to be distributing a daily feature on the radio from our loved Doctor Oz! In addition, on the weekend there will be a 3 hour program featuring Dr. Oz in addition to Gayle King and various additional programs from Harpo Radio (Oprah’s radio station). According to Forbes, Gary Schonfeld (President of Westwood One Network Radio) said “Gayle King and Dr. Oz both connect with their audiences in a personal, powerful way that is perfect for radio today, and our combination of talk shows, music programming, and features on weekdays, evenings and weekends, offers a wealth of talent to our affiliates and advertisers.” Dr. Oz is already the host of a fabulous talk show on Sirius XM Radio through Oprah’s channel 195.

I checked out Oprah’s radio schedule for this week, and Classic Dr. Oz Shows will be on Thursday and Friday from 3-4am and from 4-5pm. The Dr. Mehmet Oz radio show will be Monday – Friday from 4-5am, 1-2pm, and 10-11pm… with a special two hour edition of Dr. Mehmet Oz on Friday from 5-7pm. Yet another great reason to get Sirius Radio!
